Unomat & Omni's Guide To TR Treasure Hunting (Work In Progress)
« on: January 10, 2008, 04:30:24 PM »
So, I've noticed in all the various play fields that you will find re-spawning chests.  Some of these are inside of bunkers while others can be found in caves.  I once looted *two* blue items from a chest in Incline.  Not too bad huh?  What if we created a list of all the spawn locations for chests in the various play fields?  With the new portable way points, some sprinting and a set of motor assist, it could actually be an entertaining alternative to your usual mission/mob grinding.

So, I'll get this started and if you could add any locations to the list, I'd appreciate it.  Here is the information I need for each location:

(1.)  Playfield

(2.)  Coordinates X, Y, Z

(3.)  Number of Chests at Location?

(4.)  Locked or unlocked?

(5.)  Danger Level 1-5 /  Suggested Player Level *see description below

(6.)  Description of area / Tips?

* 1 = easy and nearly no mobs 2-3 = moderate difficulty  4 = many mobs 5 = many mobs including: Stalkers, Juggernaughts, Bosses

UNOMAT & OMNI'S GUIDE TO TR TREASURE HUNTING

PLANNING YOUR TREASURE HUNTER
If you plan on being a solo treasure hunter, I would highly suggest you make a specialist.  Currently soldiers are unable to open locked chests.  The only situation a soldier would be of help is if he were to act as support or a bodyguard for the specialist treasure hunter.   Honestly, I don't think a bodyguard is necessary unless you intend on looting in areas with mobs whom are 10+ levels above your own level.chests 5+.  Let's assume for the rest of this guide, you are in fact a specialist.  With that out of the way, which branch you choose is up to you.  The specialist alone has all the necessary skills for opening chests, moving with speed, and keeping himself alive.  You might choose medic for their greater survivability but it depends on your treasure hunting style.  You might enjoy killing all the mobs in an area for their loot before you loot the chest or you might be the type of person who wants to get the chest and get out before dying.  It's up to you what you do further down the specialist branch.

THE CRAFTING TREASURE HUNTER
Do you already have a level 50 specialist crafting toon?  Well, you are in luck.  All you need to do now is add some points to Tools and you now have yourself a crafting treasure hunter.   Want to take it a step further with the skills?  Read the section below for more helpful t-hunting skills.

USEFUL SKILLS
Motor Assist  -  Speed is a factor in treasure hunting.  Not only will you be traveling a great deal, but getting in and out of a sticky situation with some good loot is important.  Remember, the more time you spend fighting/traveling, the less profitable your treasure hunting experience will be.  A full set of motor assist will give you an added 50% boost to your speed with 5 pumps in this skill.

Sprint  -  For even more speed than your standard motor assist armor set, Sprint 5 will give you another 60% boost to your speed.  It can be a real life saver when you need to jump into a crowd of mobs near a chest, loot the chest, and get the heck out of there before you get blown to pieces.

Tools  -  This is a must-have without a doubt.  This is going to keep you alive when you get beat up and even more important, this is the skill needed to open up those locked chests.  I suggest no less than pump 5 in tools.  This will allow you to open the more difficult locked chests.

GEARING UP
You should always carry the following:
               - Cypher Tool
               - Direct Repair Tool
               - Direct Healing Disc
               - Personal Waypoints
               - EMP Bombs
               - Weapon of Choice
               - Don't forget ammo for all the tools/weapons listed!!

Thanks Schultz.  How long did it take? 3 minutes to report this chest?  Jeez... if only other forum members would be so kind :).  I do need to get my butt out there and do some searching myself too.  ;)

actually its one of those very hard ones, as i keep on finding new ones, then forgetting where they are o.O
1) I reject your reality.... and substitute my own
2) Not to be used when upset... will void warranty
3) Stoke me a clipper i will be back for dinner
4) Never tell Gangrel to do anything... he will probably get it wrong
5) I have seen more intelligence from an NPC AI in TR beta, than from most MMO players.

in torden plains, in the irendas support facility, there are SIX crates than can be decoded ...

think there's nothing more to say about =)

danger free if in afs hands, almost danger free if in bane hand (hide in the entrance-area for phanin or jump into phanin if they chase you tooo hard)

Teskon, you are the man.  Thanks.  I had no idea and I'll need to go look at that for myself.  Very cool.  Any info on the crates?  Anything good in there?  All greys or did you get some green/blues?

Schultz, very very nice posts man.  I got blues in 2 of those chests you posted!!  I'll have a new map and have the guide updated by the end of the week.  Busy week this week ;)

I've been checking those crates every time i zip thru there...  since 1.4 ive pulled grey/green/blues - another crate up by the motor in the base will somtimes drop a purple. Prior to 1.4 mostly greens...

Item level is usually 20-25

I hope to have time to check the exact cords and chests tonight so I can put the dots on the map and list them properly.  I appreciate the update and it's sad that you don't get better than green drops.  Though, I must say that green drops seem appropriate if you consider how easy it is to get to these chests right?
