Just upgraded my PSU and Vid Card, and I'm experiencing high fluctuations in FPS and Performance at "Normal" settings. I installed the drivers that came with my card but it didnt say which drivers they were. Any idea how i can maximize performance on my system? I reformatted so i dont have much on my drives.
My system specs are:

Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz with HT
2.00 GB DDR2 533 (PC2 4200)
BFG Tech nVidia 8800 GT OC1
150GB WD Raptor SATA HDD 10,000 RPM
OCZ GameXStream 600W Power Supply
Onboard Sound card

1) Install the latest Motherboard drivers
2) Install the more uptodate drivers from NVidia's website.
3) Make sure that DirectX is fully up to date.
4) Defrag your hard drive (its actually amazing how fragged the hard drive is AFTER a fresh install).

And then hit Auto Detect in TR and enjoy the game.

Also what resolution are you running the game at and how much Video Ram has your gfx card got?
1) I reject your reality.... and substitute my own
2) Not to be used when upset... will void warranty
3) Stoke me a clipper i will be back for dinner
4) Never tell Gangrel to do anything... he will probably get it wrong
5) I have seen more intelligence from an NPC AI in TR beta, than from most MMO players.

I defragged my HD partitions good. Updated directx to 9.0c. Not sure about motherboard drivers, you mean BIOS?

My card has 512mb ram and its 256 bit. Ive hit auto detect and it actually put my graphics settings to maximum instead of a lower quality.

I was playing at 1024 x 768 and experiencing bad performance in base attacks and places with alot of mobs/fighting then I played at 800 x 600 and it got a little better but not that much better.

nope, the motherboard drivers themselves.

I knows its strange, but believe it or not the nforce based boards work better if you actually install the drivers for them.

Also see if the on board soundcard has updated drivers.

What fps are you getting normally, and what is it dropping down to?

Does anyone have a good hint on a defrag app that actually defrags AND consolidates a pagefile (not to mention put it at the front of the disk tyvm :D)?

errr best way to consolidate the page file is to disable it, defrag the hard drive and then re-enable the page file (either that or i use O&O Defrag myself)

I've got pretty serious stuttering every 3-5 seconds as well, but the thing is...I've got no FPS problems, texture problems, lag problems or disconnect problems.  I'm in talks with a tech to try and figure this out.  None of the other system-hogging games I currently play stutter like this.  Perhaps it is b/c I've got a single core processor, so if that is the case, here's hoping they can patch for a fix.

75+ fps with AA, 1680x1050 and most sliders at max is great, but the stuttering is destroying the fun =(

what graphics card are you using and the memory on it.  The single core is definatly contributing to the stutter. (aslo what are you using for sound card/drivers )

I had no problem with stuttering before, but after the latest patch (26.02.2008) and hotfix the game started to stutter every few meters (more like tens of meters) when walking around.

It looks like textures or geometry having to be reloaded all the time, but I have 2GB of RAM, only around 270MB are occupied by other programs and the OS cache, and as I said, the game ran fine before. The technical problem might be something completely different, of course, but with all the stuttering, its impossible for me to enjoy playing the game.

I use a Dell XPS Gen 2 Laptop, updated for 1 additional GB of RAM (so I end up with 2GB RAM, Intel Pentium M 2.26GHz, NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra). I do NOT use deferred lighting, which is why I have good FPS's on my system when it is not stuttering. Also, I choose medium texture resolution and high geometry with a screen resolution of 1280x800 (widescreen). Any ideas?
